Sometimes we get too caught up in all of our obligations. If you find a hobby, you can take time out of your day to enjoy yourself and see progress in your life.
The one thing you have to realize, is that you don’t have to be a professional to have a hobby. Just enjoy yourself!
I draw and use oil pastels when I’m feeling really stressed. I get to just focus on a small task for a few minutes or even a few hours. This a drawing I made this year, but I posted a video of my drawing from the past. You will gradually make process and there is always a way to improve.
You can go to your favorite place in the city, sit in the park, or even find an image online to try to replicate. Drawing doesn’t require you to sit at home. You can make your experience as creative and adventurous as you want. Just explore and embrace the freedom your hobby provides.
You can also write to express yourself. My friend, Sarah Fox, writes poetry as an outlet in her free time. She enjoys it because it brings her peace and helps her to refocus her thoughts. Here is an excerpt from her blog.
Another option is to learn an instrument! This is a more expensive hobby, but you get turn away from more academic feeling hobbies and just be free of stress.
If you want to stay active at the same time, you can actually let off more steam by playing a sport as a hobby. I used to ice-skate and play softball. You forget about all the problems you have.
Train your mind to let go the stress and focus on the rest.
Having a hobby will allow you to set time out in your day to be free of your stress, obligations, and fast paced life.
Create a time of Sabbath in your life.
